Job Purposes:
·
Manage and administer the day-to-day
functions of the school library
·
To support the
Learning Centre Leaders in their day-to-day tasks
·
Collaborate with library
teaching assistants to ensure the task and functions
within the library are carried out effectively and efficiently
·
Actively
contribute to the realization of the ISPP Guiding
Statements.
·
Actively
collaborate with teachers in an open and professional
manner.
·
In word,
demeanor and performance, model the attributes of the
IB Learner Profile.
·
Actively
participate in the ISPP professional learning community.
Duties
- Maintain a broad knowledge of resources and assist the Learning
Centre leaders in the ordering, procurement and distribution of resources.
- Maintain the collection of resources
appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the
teaching styles and instructional strategies of the
school community.
- Exemplify competence in classifying,
cataloging, processing, storage, and circulation of materials
- Provide access to information and ideas
by assisting both students and teachers in the
location of information resources
- Organize collections to ensure its
maximum and effective use.
- In coordination with the Learning Centre
Leaders, ensure a range of EAL and mother-tongue
resources, including resources that reflect host-country language,
history and culture, are available and ensure the Learning
Centre collection reflects international-mindedness.
- Support the learning centre leaders in the
managing of both print and digital resources, to ensure the collection is relevant,
up to date, appealing and accessible for students
- Assist the Learning Centre Leaders to manage
budgets and inventory control associated with the
smooth functioning and appropriate resourcing of the
Learning Centre.
Requirements
- Experience as a Librarian, locally or internationally with experience with library
systems
- Relevant and appropriate Degree.
- A passion for reading, and expertise in literacy
- Proficiency with technology, including google
suite
- Ability to build positive human relations,
display interpersonal and communications skills.
- Be familiar working in an environment with children,
ideally in a school environment
- Continue to learn and grow
professionally.
- Effective resource and personnel management
skills.
- Professional level of communication in English
