Women Peace Makers (WPM) is Cambodia’s
leading organization working on issues of gender and peacebuilding.
Founded in 2003, WPM envisions a peaceful and gender

can reach their full potential and live free from violence.
Today’s WPM is the culmination of almost two decades of action and learning in the
field with longstanding and well recognized history of intervening in violent
situations for women in Cambodia and has
developed a strong base of programming to raise
awareness, empower women, and advocate for change in the
community and conflict settings. WPM is grounded in its
approach and community voices inform all of its continued

This position works in local
dispute mediation with gender sensitivity expertise.
Location : Phnom Penh (with frequent
visit to the fields).
WPM is currently implementing a project
entitled "Strengthening Gender Responsive Mediation & Community Mental
Health Support to Address Gender Based Violence (GRM-CMH/GBV)” project (2020-2024),
together with Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO)
under the funding from German Federal Ministry of Economic
Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Johanniter International
Assistance. The project aims to “create a protective
community for women, girls, men and boys (wgmb) through
preventing and responding to gender-based violence in a
pragmatic and gender sensitive manner”. One of the
objectives is to strengthen the existing local
mediation services provided by the local authorities and to
ensure higher quality service provision to vulnerable
individuals affected by GBV in 8 districts of 3
provinces in Cambodia, namely Kompong Chhnang, Kompot and Tbong
Khmum. The role of the mediator consultant is to
1) develop a specialized mediation training manual tailored to each
target audience (trainers and participants from sub-national
levels); along with coaching guideline and 2) provide trainings and coaching as well as other related advisory support (on
site and online) throughout the project mandate
(2020-2024) to the implementing team and participants.
During the development process, the consultant will ensure
that existing local resources will be utilized
accordingly and creatively, and not being duplicated.
Specifically, the consultant will be required to undertake the following
tasks and deliverables:

o Develop a specialized mediation
training manual for trainers (ToT Handbook) and for users
(Practitioner Handbook) tailored to cases of domestic
disputes that address gender sensitivity and responsiveness and in
accordance with relevant national policies, guidelines and other
relevant resources.
o Design an accompanied coaching
guideline
- Facilitation and Coaching support
o Co-facilitate Gender Sensitive Mediation
Training Workshops to the project implementing
members and sub-national actors/participants
o Co-facilitate Gender Sensitive Mediation
Refresher Training Workshops to the project implementing
members and sub-national actors/participants
o Provide on-line and onsite coaching
support
o Provide related advisory and support as requested to ensure
effective design and implementation of the above
responsibility.
Requirements
- Be a certified and recognized
mediator
- Have at least 5-10 years of
practical experience in community mediation of local
disputes, specifically with gender sensitivity in mediation
work
- Possess excellent knowledge in Alternative
Dispute Resolutions (ADR) with experience working with the relevant
stakeholders at both the national and sub-national
levels
- Familiar with concept of gender,
women’s rights, and child rights is a plus
- Willingness to travel to target
communities in the provinces
- Experience working with local NGOs and community
level programming
- High quality communication skills, notably writing
mediation training manuals.
- Experience writing high quality
reports, and incorporating written feedback and addressing
comments from multiple stakeholders
- Strong relationship management skills
- Ability to manage the available
time and resources and to work with tight
deadlines
- No previous history of child abuse,
crime, or sexual harassment

Manager
The Project Assistant supports the Gender
Program Manager in the gender project implementation,
particularly supporting the logistic arrangement, workshop
organization, coordination of the women’s leader network, and conducting
provincial field visits.
Duties
- Support in the field recruitment
process of Weaving Women Leadership for Change (WWLC)
program
- Provide logistic arrangement and organization support of all project
activities, including leadership workshop, community change initiative,
network building, public talk and other field work.
- Support the development of curriculum design and
plan for WWLC workshop and sisterhood mentorship
program
- Develop and maintain good relations with women
leader networks and involved stakeholders to ensure the smooth
implementation of the project
- Organize regular WWLC meetings/networking with grassroots the women
leaders
- Collaborate with responsible WPM staff to document and formulate
creative and effective ways to present the project
results to target audiences
- Properly file and keep related project
documentation in a chronological and easy-to-find
system
- Document and follow up on important
actions and decisions made during meetings and other project related
gatherings
Requirements
- Be a senior university student or hold a Bachelor
Degree in a related field with at least 1 years of
experience in project implementation
- Be passionate in gender equality and possess the understanding and familiarity of gender
concepts and women issues in Cambodia
- Have basic budgeting skills and logistic
arrangement
- Have good organizational skills, reporting and
writing skills, and effective data gathering skills
- Be proactive to anticipate priorities
without direct supervision
- Have good interpersonal skills and
self-confidence to ensure effective communication and representation of WPM in diverse
audience and settings
- Ability to meet deadline, work under
pressure, and willingness to travel to the provinces
- Able to speak and write in English and
Khmer well
- Willingness to learn new skills and test new experience
